Questions about Ownership and admin
You bought your domain from one provider. It is often managed at a completely different one.
Registered is not the same as managed
At the registrar, the domain belongs to you. That is where it gets paid for and where it gets renewed. Which records apply to it, though, is decided by the nameservers. And those often point somewhere else entirely: at the host, at a site builder, at an agency from years ago.
Anyone who does not know that changes their records in the wrong place. The field is filled in, the interface confirms the change. And still nothing happens. The nameservers that actually answer never hand that record out in the first place.
What you find out here
The check reads the nameservers of your domain and matches them to a provider. That is all it takes. Afterwards you know which interface really holds the records for your domain, and with that, where every change to email, website or redirect begins.
